Description
This combination medicine is used for effective and long-term control of high blood pressure, particularly in patients who need stronger and sustained BP reduction. Telmisartan works by blocking angiotensin-II receptors, causing relaxation and widening of blood vessels, which lowers vascular resistance. Chlorthalidone is a long-acting thiazide-like diuretic that helps remove excess salt and water from the body, reducing blood volume and blood pressure. Together, they provide powerful, 24-hour blood pressure control and help reduce the risk of heart, brain, and kidney damage.
Indications :
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Patients inadequately controlled on Telmisartan alone
Hypertension with fluid retention
Patients requiring long-acting diuretic support
Prevention of cardiovascular complications such as stroke and heart attack
Side Effects :
Common Side Effects
Dizziness or light-headedness
Increased urination (especially at start of therapy)
Fatigue or weakness
Headache
Less Common / Rare :
Low blood pressure (hypotension)
Electrolyte imbalance (low potassium, low sodium)
Muscle cramps
Increased uric acid levels (may worsen gout)
Increased blood sugar levels
Nausea or stomach discomfort
Consult a doctor if severe dizziness, dehydration, muscle weakness, or irregular heartbeat occurs.
Dosage :
One tablet once daily, or as prescribed by the physician
Best taken in the morning to avoid nighttime urination
Can be taken with or without food
Take regularly at the same time each day
Dosage adjustment depends on blood pressure response and patient condition.
Precautions :
Use cautiously in patients with kidney or liver disease
Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes is recommended
Not recommended during pregnancy
Use with caution in diabetes, gout, or dehydration
Avoid excessive sun exposure (risk of photosensitivity)
Inform the doctor about all other medications being taken.
