Isosorbide Mononitrate 10 mg is a nitrate medicine primarily used to prevent and manage angina (chest pain) caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which reduces the workload on the heart and improves blood flow to the heart muscle. It is generally used for the prevention of angina attacks rather than for immediate relief of an acute attack.
Indications :
- Prevention of stable angina pectoris
- Prevention of recurrent chest pain due to coronary artery disease
- Reduction of cardiac workload by decreasing preload and myocardial oxygen demand
- May be used as part of combination therapy in selected cardiovascular conditions, as prescribed by a physician
Side Effects :
- Headache
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Low blood pressure (hypotension)
- Flushing
- Nausea or vomiting
- Weakness or tiredness
- Increased heart rate (tachycardia)
- Rarely, fainting or severe hypotension
Storage :
- Store at room temperature, generally below 25°C, unless otherwise specified on the product label.
