Ranitidine reduces the production of stomach acid and was historically used for the treatment and prevention of acid-related gastrointestinal conditions. It was used for heartburn, acid reflux (GERD), peptic ulcers, gastritis, and other conditions involving excessive gastric acid secretion.
Indications :
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Heartburn and acid indigestion
- Peptic/gastric ulcers
- Duodenal ulcers
- Gastritis associated with excess stomach acid
- Hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger–Ellison syndrome
- Prevention of stress-related gastric ulcers in selected clinical settings
Side Effects :
- Headache
- Nausea or vomiting
- Abdominal discomfort
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Dizziness
- Skin rash
Rare/serious: liver problems, confusion (particularly in older adults or people with kidney impairment), and allergic reactions.
Storage :
Store according to the product label, generally at room temperature, in a dry place away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
