It is commonly used for conditions associated with excessive or tenacious mucus, such as chronic bronchitis, COPD, and other respiratory conditions with mucus congestion. It may also be used as an antidote for paracetamol (acetaminophen) overdose, but this requires medical supervision and a specific dosing regimen.
