Gatifloxacin 0.3% w/v Eye Drops are a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, particularly bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye). It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, thereby stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria. This medication is effective against a broad range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It is intended for bacterial eye infections only and is not effective against viral or fungal eye infections.
Indications :
- Bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Bacterial infection of the conjunctiva
- Superficial bacterial eye infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Prevention of bacterial infection after certain ophthalmic procedures (only if prescribed by an ophthalmologist)
Common Side Effects :
- Mild eye irritation or burning
- Temporary blurred vision
- Redness of the eye
- Watery eyes
- Eye discomfort or pain
- Itching of the eye
- Unpleasant taste in the mouth after instillation
- Headache (occasionally)
Storage :
- Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed after use.
- Protect from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
- Do not freeze.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Discard the bottle 4 weeks after opening or as advised by your healthcare provider.
