Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which leads to the destruction and elimination of susceptible bacteria. Cefixime oral suspension is commonly prescribed in pediatric patients due to its convenient liquid formulation and effective antibacterial action. It is used for infections affecting the respiratory tract, ear, urinary system, throat, skin, and soft tissues. It is also indicated in the treatment of typhoid fever caused by susceptible bacteria.
