FERTISTOP-72 contains Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg, an emergency contraceptive pill used to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sexual intercourse or contraceptive failure. It works primarily by delaying or preventing ovulation, thereby reducing the chance of fertilization. It is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex, preferably within 24 hours and up to 72 hours. It is intended for emergency use only and should not be used as a regular method of contraception.
Indications :
- Emergency contraception after unprotected sexual intercourse.
- Failure of barrier contraceptive methods (condom breakage, slippage, or leakage).
- Missed regular oral contraceptive pills.
- Expulsion, displacement, or failure of an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD).
- Incorrect use of contraceptive methods leading to pregnancy risk.
Dosage & Administration :
- Take one tablet (1.5 mg) orally as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse.
- Most effective within 24 hours.
- Can be taken up to 72 hours after intercourse.
- If vomiting occurs within 2 hours of taking the tablet, consult a healthcare professional as another dose may be required.
