Empagliflozin + Linagliptin is an oral antidiabetic combination used along with diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Empagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that promotes glucose removal through urine, while linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and helps reduce glucagon levels.
Indications :
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with inadequate glycemic control.
- As an add-on to diet and exercise for better blood glucose management.
- May be used in appropriate adults with T2DM and established cardiovascular disease; empagliflozin has demonstrated a reduction in cardiovascular death in such patients.
- Not recommended for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, because of the increased risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Side Effects :
Common side effects may include:
- Urinary tract infections
- Genital fungal infections
- Increased urination
- Increased thirst
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Nasopharyngitis/common cold-like symptoms
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Dizziness or low blood pressure due to fluid loss
Important but less common serious reactions include diabetic ketoacidosis, pancreatitis, severe dehydration, serious urinary/genital infections, hypersensitivity reactions, severe joint pain and bullous pemphigoid.
Storage :
- Store at 20°C–25°C.
- Permitted temperature excursions: 15°C–30°C.
- Keep in a dry place, protected from excessive heat and moisture.
- Keep the tablets in their original packaging and out of reach of children.
