Isosorbide Mononitrate 10 mg is a nitrate vasodilator used primarily for the prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which reduces the workload of the heart and improves oxygen supply to the heart muscle.
By decreasing the pressure against which the heart pumps and reducing oxygen demand, Isosorbide Mononitrate helps prevent episodes of chest pain and improves exercise tolerance in patients with chronic stable angina. It may also be prescribed as part of the treatment plan for certain patients with heart failure, particularly when used alongside other cardiovascular medications as directed by a physician.
Note: Isosorbide Mononitrate is used to prevent angina attacks and is not intended for immediate relief of acute chest pain.
